COLLEYVILLE’S COSMETIC SURGERY AND AESTHETIC TREATMENT CENTER

Acne

Acne…

In high school I had one zit and it was on the tip of my nose. I remember feeling so embarrassed. I overheard someone say look there’s Rudolph. I had flawless skin so seeing one imperfection was a big deal for me. I remember thinking I just have one… I can’t imagine what it would be like to have them all over my face like most of my friends.

Skincare was always important to my mother. She taught me at a young age to take care of my skin. I have memories of her relaxing with a green mask on her perfect complexion. One day she treated me to a facial. I asked the Aesthetician what made her interested in Aesthetics. She had acne as a teenager and it affected her social life. People made fun of her. She started seeing an Aesthetician. It changed her life! Her testimony stirred something up inside me. That’s what I want to do! I want to help people feel great about themselves!

I then started my journey in aesthetics. I love treating preteen and teenagers. When patients come in for the first time they’re so embarrassed. They don’t make eye contact and their head is down low. As the skin starts to clear up they walk in with confidence. There’s nothing more satisfying.

Everyone deals with the occasional breakout from preteen to adult life at some point.

So what causes acne?

For teenagers a increase in hormone production plays a big role. Other common causes are stress, diet, exercise, genetics and pregnancy.

It can appear on the face, neck, chest, shoulders and back. Too much sebum can clog the opening of a hair follicle, when this happens bacteria can grow and cause a clogged follicle. Then you have whiteheads or blackheads that will appear.

When you come into the Center for Aesthetic Surgery we will sit down and discuss your lifestyle to determine what treatment is best for you.

I start with skincare. What you do at home is very important. I will often ask several questions. Do you wash your face every day? Do you wash your makeup brushes? How often do you clean your pillowcase? Do you use harsh scrubs? Are you constantly touching your face? Do you wash your face after sweating?

Depending on the answers I will make suggestions.

I don’t just sell products and treatments. I truly want to help you. Asking these types of questions help me understand what’s causing the breakouts.

We then we’ll come up with a plan together.

There is an option for everyone. Microdermabrasion is excellent for blackheads. I would start by cleansing your skin followed by microdermabrasion and a custom mask. Microdermabrasion feels great. Another great treatment is Isolaz. Isolaz is a unique treatment, standing up to the root causes of acne and giving you the power to fight back! Isolaz combines the power of vacuum with the proven benefits of broadband light that helps loosen and extract dirt, blackheads and excess oil while helping to destroy the acne-causing bacteria found deep in your pores. Have somewhere to go? The M22 IPL from Lumenis has a unique acne treatment. It helps with redness and swelling for radiant clear skin fast.

At the Center for Aesthetic Surgery consultations are free. Book your appointment today. Let’s start your journey to flawless skin.
